no-spec is edited by working designers and published for working designers. If you have a correction, a rebuttal, a contract clause worth sharing, or a client story that belongs in one of the pillars, write to the editors at the address below. Every message to this inbox is read by a person, and we aim to reply within five working days.

What we respond to
- Corrections. If a piece misstates a rate survey, a contest's terms, an association's position or a date, tell us the URL and point us at the source. Sourced corrections are published as a note on the page.
- Rebuttals. If you run a contest platform, hire designers through unpaid pitches, or disagree with an argument here, send the argument. We link to public rebuttals and engage with them rather than ignoring them.
- Contract language and scripts. The clauses and reply scripts in Rates, Contracts, Scope and in Proof of Work are meant to be borrowed and improved. If yours worked better in front of a real client, we want to read it.
- Spec requests you have received. A brief that asks for finished work before a fee is agreed, whether it is called a contest, a trial or a quick AI mockup, is the raw material of this site. Strip the client's name if you prefer; we discuss the practice, not the company.
- Press, educators and students. Interview requests, permission to use a piece in a classroom, and citation questions.
- Accessibility and broken pages. Unreadable contrast, a link that returns a 404, a tool that does not respond.
What we do not do
We do not review portfolios, recommend individual designers, or act as a marketplace or referral service. We do not sell sponsored placements, accept guest posts, or insert links for payment; any pitch of that kind is deleted unread. We do not name and shame individual designers who take spec work, and we will not publish a client's private correspondence. We are not lawyers, and we cannot advise on your specific contract dispute, though we will happily point you at the relevant piece.
Response times
Factual corrections come first and are usually handled within two working days. Everything else is answered in order of arrival. If your message has a deadline, such as a contract you have to sign by Friday or a lecture on Monday, say so in the subject line and we will do what we can.
Independence
no-spec.com is an independent editorial site, as the about page sets out. It is not affiliated with the original No!Spec organisation, with AIGA, RGD or any designer association, and it does not speak for them. Writing to us is writing to the editors of this site and nobody else.
